The Arts
- Southmont High School is home to an award-winning marching band that travels throughout the world.
- Southmont High School is home to two award-winning show choirs (one all-female, one mixed) that travel throughout the Midwest.
- Southmont High School offers a wide continuum of art education including classes in Fine Art, Photography, Commercial Design, Sculpture and 3D Printing.
- Elementary schools offer a variety of fine art opportunities including band, Art Club and Ukulele Club.
- Elementary schools feature a bi-annual Renaissance Fair – a unique event that helps bring the arts and history to life.
Clubs
- Southmont High School offers 21 official clubs for such interests as bowling, FFA, computers and many more.
- Southmont High School is home to award-winning Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Business Professionals of America (BPA) and FFA clubs.
- Southmont High School clubs focus on community service as a way to give back to the community.
- Elementary schools offer special clubs designed to engage younger students and include such clubs as Crafty Kids, Student Council and Spell Bowl.
Elementary School Programs
- Southmont’s three elementary schools offer a unique and differentiated approach to learning. All teachers have been trained in balanced literacy, and ensure students have rigorous and relevant learning opportunities.
- Technology integration is a vital part of each student’s educational experience.
- Each child has access to their own mobile device (iPads for grades K-2 and Chromebooks in grades 3-6) and every classroom is equipped with interactive projection technology.
- Beginning in third grade, Southmont provides a self-contained High Ability program, as well as a summer enrichment program, to ensure all students are challenged.
- Elementary schools offer fun family events like school carnivals, Grandparents Days, Family Literacy Nights and Invention Conventions.
