Dear Parents,
The students are anxiously anticipating the annual 5th Grade Lip Sync. It will be held in the gym on February 10, at 1:30 pm. The Valentine’s Day parties for both classes will take place at the conclusion of the lip sync. In the newsletter sent home last Friday, I listed the names of the parents who have graciously volunteered to bring snacks or drinks to our Valentine’s Day Party. Thank you!!!
The students have been enjoying the book Maniac Magee. Last week, each student created a data disk that contained information about some of the themes this book covers in addition to the author, Jerry Spinelli. The students learned about homelessness and refugees for homeless people. Throughout this novel, students will also learn literary devices used by authors to make their writing more interesting. This week they learned about coined words.
Please continue to have your child prepare for the weekly spelling and vocabulary quizzes over this novel.
