Classroom Discipline Policy
Dear Parents,
I am so excited about the new school year. I anticipate many rewarding experiences for all of us throughout the course of the year.
I have developed a Classroom Discipline Plan that allows
every student to monitor his/her own behavior. The plan
will give each child the best educational environment
for academic growth. This plan will be in effect at
all times.
Classroom Rules
1.
Follow directions the first time given.
2. Have pencils, paper, and books at your desk ready
to work.
3. Raise your hand to be called upon before speaking.
4. Keep hands feet and other objects to yourself.
5. No put-downs allowed.
To encourage appropriate behavior, I will reinforce
it with praise, notes to parents, homework passes, free
time, and blue slips to the office.
If a student chooses to break a rule, the following
will occur:
1st time------------------------------------Warning
2nd time-----------------------------------Lose 15 minutes
of recess
3rd time-----------------------------------Lose 30 minutes
of recess
4th time-----------------------------------Lose all
noon recess and call parent
5th time-----------------------------------Lose all
noon recess call parent, and send to the principal
SEVERE DISRUPTION--------------Send to principal immediately
SEVERE CLAUSE CRITERIA –If a student chooses to
hurt someone, destroy property, directly defy a teacher,
or totally disrupt the class, he/she will immediately
be sent to the principal.
Sincerely,
Mrs. McCormick

Additional reminder information from the school office:
STUDENT DROP-OFF and PICK-UP: If you are dropping off or picking up students between 7:30 & 8:00 in the morning or 3:00 & 3:30 in the afternoon, you must do so on the north side of the gym. Please circle the parking lot so that traffic moves in one direction. The drive in front of the building is reserved for bus traffic during the times above. This is for our students' safety. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please read the homework policy in the handbook, and discuss it with your child(ren). The intention of this policy is to encourage students to develop a sense of responsibility and pride in their work. It also greatly improves communication between the school and home. Please note that excessive late work will be addressed as a discipline issue. If students receive more than 9 homework slips in a grading period, they will be assigned to a detention. This would be more than 1.5 homework slips per week - far too many to develop responsible work habits. If a student persists in having late work, that student will have his/her own personal eagle puzzle to complete for a reward so that the rest of the class does not suffer the consequences of one student's lack of responsibility. If you have questions about any of this, please direct them to the school principal, Mr. Carty.
